Your day begins with Hidden Lanes’ City Tales Walking Tour, a relaxed, story-rich journey through central Ballarat. Explore historic streets, hidden laneways, grand architecture and places connected to the city’s gold rush past, while hearing stories of ambition, rebellion, wealth, hardship and transformation.
After the morning tour, make your own way to Sovereign Hill. Your Hidden Lanes guide will meet you there for a 30-minute Hosted Sovereign Hill Welcome, connecting the real places and stories you’ve discovered that morning with the recreated goldfields world you’re about to explore.
Having already walked through the real Ballarat, Sovereign Hill takes on another dimension. The mines, trades, streets and shops become part of a much bigger story — one you’ve already begun to understand.
Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Sovereign Hill independently, with general admission, an underground mine tour and candle dipping activity included.

Continue independently through Sovereign Hill at your own pace, including your pre-arranged underground mine tour and candle dipping experience.
Explore the historic streets, shops, trades, demonstrations and goldfields atmosphere before concluding your day in your own time.

Allow a full day, from 10:00am until late afternoon.
The guided City Tales Walking Tour runs for approximately 2.5 hours. After your 30-minute Hosted Sovereign Hill Welcome, the remainder of your Sovereign Hill visit is self-guided.

City Tales begins in central Ballarat. Your exact meeting point will be provided in your booking confirmation.
After the morning tour, guests make their own way from central Ballarat to Sovereign Hill.

This is a full-day experience, so it is best suited to children who are comfortable walking, listening to stories and spending a full day exploring.
